Halloween at McNally High School

Halloween is over but let us have a recap on how did the Tigers celebrate their Halloween this year.

Last October 30 to November 1, 2013, the Students Union headed by their President Alex Kwan led some ‘Halloween’ activities for the students at McNally. Some activities were as follows.

1. Haunted Den

The Tigers Den was turned into a ‘haunted den’ and I heard some people say that the S.U. did really well on making it scary for some people. The  ‘haunted den’ was designed by the Vice President of McNally Students Union External, Bill Huang. He was the head of the ‘Haunted room’ but some S.U. members helped to make the ‘haunted den’ happen. According to some source, there were some issues regarding the room. Some said the the ‘scary’ music in the room was so loud but other than that everything worked really well. The S.U. sold some Halloween cupcakes during the Halloween celebration in front of the Tigers Den. The ‘haunted den’ lasted for three days. It was also visited by some elementary students that are part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program on October 31, 2013. There were some unexpected things that happened on the ‘haunted den’, according to a source a random guy who was checking out the ‘haunted den’ was accidentally punched. According toe Jesse Krepakevich, “Renne Luong was the fellow who took the blow, as for the guy who hit him we don’t know. They were in a group and it was dark there wasn’t really any physical harm, but Renne didn’t feel up to being in there anymore.”

2. Halloween Costume Contest

And there was more. Halloween celebration at McNally is not complete without the annual Halloween costume contest. This years competition was a bit less entertaining compared to last year but the costumes of students this year were totally amazing. Even the teachers at McNally did a lot of effort in designing their Halloween costumes. A great example for that were the some of the Math and Science teachers of McNally High school, they dressed up as elements in the Periodic Table. Students joined the costume contest which was held in the large gym of the school during lunch time on October 31, 2013. There were also some ‘parlor games’ during the costume competition and there were some prizes that were awarded to those fortunate students who won the costume awards. Some costumes that stood out or at least the people that has unique costumes includes the guy who dressed up as Macklemore, the guy who dressed up like a pig, a Grade 1o student named ‘Ravia’ who dressed up as the ‘human version’ of the book “50 shades of Gray”. Although every costumes were unique a group of students who dressed up as the characters of F. Scott Fitzgerald‘s Great Gatsby. The students who was part of the ‘Great Gatsby group’ were Bill Huang, Sharon Huang, Chloee Kwan, Demi Truong, Jesse Krepakevich and Vishay Shankar.
